Event: NAFSA Conference
Location: Association of International Educators Annual Conference & Expo, Washington D.C.!
I am thrilled to reflect on my recent experience presenting at NAFSA 75 in Washington D.C., where I had the privilege of showcasing a thought-provoking poster titled “The Future of Education in Afghanistan: Trauma-Informed Healing and Empowerment.” NAFSA, the world’s largest association dedicated to international education and exchange, provided an ideal platform for shedding light on critical issues facing Afghanistan’s education system.
Key Highlights from the Poster Presentation:
1️⃣ The Historical Context: Spanning from 1919 to 2021, I explored the evolution of Afghanistan’s education system, offering valuable insights into its development over the decades.
2️⃣ The Current Landscape: Delving into the present status of Afghanistan’s education system, I highlighted significant changes and challenges that have shaped its trajectory.
3️⃣ Embedding Healing and Empowerment: Emphasizing a holistic approach, I underscored the importance of integrating healing and empowerment practices into future educational initiatives. This approach is crucial at both individual and national levels to foster resilience and growth within Afghanistan’s educational framework.
4️⃣ My Research Framework: Drawing on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) framework, I explored its application in breaking the cycle of trauma and its profound impact on education in Afghanistan.
My presentation aimed to stimulate dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders invested in Afghanistan’s educational future. By addressing historical contexts, current challenges, and advocating for trauma-informed approaches, I aspire to contribute to the development of a resilient and effective education system for Afghan learners.
If you’re passionate about education in Afghanistan or interested in connecting further, I invite you to reach out. Together, let’s empower Afghan learners and shape the future of education globally!
Thank you for joining me on this journey of exploration and advocacy. Stay tuned for more updates and insights as we continue to advance educational opportunities for all.
